Acupuncture Frequently Asked Questions
Many of our patients are pleasantly surprised to discover that once the needles are in place, the acupuncture experience is actually very relaxing. Acupuncture needles are extremely fine, about the thickness of a human hair. At the moment of insertion, patients may experience a mild sensation that is often described as a minor pinch, a tingle or an achy feeling. Then, while relaxing on the table and as the treatment begins to take effect, patients often experience deep peace or euphoria.
Yes. We use sterile, pre-packaged, high quality, stainless steel needles. We discard these disposable needles into a medical waste container after one use, where they remain enclosed until they are removed by a medical waste company.
This depends on the nature, duration and severity of your condition. We begin with a one- to two-hour consultation and examination, during which time we will thoroughly assess your specific individual needs. Drawing on his years of experience as a health care practitioner, the acupuncturist will select the methods that he determines will bring you to a state of health and well-being as quickly as possible.
Some insurance companies cover acupuncture treatment. Your company's customer service department can advise you as to whether you have acupuncture coverage and your terms of coverage. Important questions to ask might be which conditions are covered, what your in-network and out-of-network costs would be, and how many treatments per year are covered. If you have coverage, our office staff can provide you with the necessary paperwork so that you may be reimbursed. At this time, Medicare does not cover acupuncture.
Call or email our office to set up an appointment. Our staff can answer any other questions or concerns you may have. We look forward to hearing from you.
